Round-table Discussion on Technology Business Incubation
Last November 25-27,2015 at Seda Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna, DR. WILLIAM D. DAR was invited to serve as a resource speaker during the Round-table Discussion on Technology Business Incubation.
Over the years, research and development played a crucial role in the advancement of the agriculture and fisheries sector. Responsive to these needs, The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) has supported numerous researches and technologies generated by R&D institutions in the country aligned with the thrust of the government to alleviate poverty, increase rural income, and enhance global competitiveness.
Given the current demands and pressing issues of the A/F sector, DA-BAR institutionalized the National Technology Commercialization Program (NTCP), one of its banner programs in order to increase productivity and profitability of farmers, fisherfolk and other stakeholders.
With the increasing number of funded researches under the program, there is a need to ensure that mature technologies are efficiently commercialized, thus, promoting innovations in order to modernize and make agricultural ventures profitable. Transforming agriculture and fisheries from resource-based to technology-based while strengthening a market-driven approach is the main objective of NTCP. One seen key to achieving this objective is through establishing a system to adopt the agribusiness/technology incubation successfully implemented by the International Crops Research Institute to the activities of DA-BAR's NTCP.
